What exactly IS coaching?

I have decided to go for my ICF (International Coaching Federation) credential. I begin the end of March. It's a 6 month program. I'm excited. (See picture). The ICF defines coaching this way: A coach works with clients to achieve speedy, increased and sustainable effectiveness in their lives and careers through focused learning.
